A man, eventually detained for supposedly assaulting law enforcement with a deli product, engages with customs and government officials.

A American border officer has testified he could sense through his body armor the force of a deli item thrown at him by a Washington DC protester, who has stood before a judge for assault.

Customs and Border Patrol agent the officer testified to the court panel the snack "burst all over him" and he "could smell the aromatic vegetables and yellow sauce" on his uniform.

No party disputes that the defendant, thirty-seven, did in fact throw profanities and a made-to-order snack at law enforcement sent by the former president to monitor the nation's capital in the summer month.

The occurrence was recorded on video and went viral, making Mr Dunn a symbol of dissent in the federal district to the administration.

Government prosecutors initially tried to obtain major offense allegations against Mr Dunn, but a judicial committee declined to indict him.

The former president's deployment of National Guard troops to the capital this season caused anger from some of the DC citizens, who viewed it as a partisan deployment of the armed forces.

According to court papers, the defendant came near a police contingent at about 23:00 on August 10, referring to them "fascists" and shouting: "Why are you present? You are not welcome in my city!"

The trial observed a demonstration from Mr Lairmore on Tuesday as he took the stand against the defendant.

"I detected it through my body armor," he said of the item's force, noting that an onion string remained from his communication device and mustard discolored his clothing.

The accused's legal counsel, the defense attorney, stated in her court presentation that hurling the food item was a "harmless gesture that did not, could not, create physical damage".

But prosecutor the state's representative argued Mr Dunn must be facing consequences.

"No matter who you are, you can't just go around launching items at people because you're upset," the prosecutor stated.

Subsequent to the claimed attack was revealed, the accused was dismissed from his job as a paralegal in the government law department.
